Andrew and Rania Warren’s RAISE CAIN (c, 3, Violence–Lemon Belle, by Lemon Drop Kid) somehow worked his way to the rail from a high draw, found room in the lane and powered home impressively to take the GIII Gotham S. Saturday–all while the riderless Howgreatisnate (Speightster) made for some tense moments. He crossed the wire double digits ahead of Slip Mahoney (Arrogate) with the loose horse running with him to the line. Raise Cain stopped the clock in 1:38.09. He was previously second in the Dec. 26 Gun Runner S. at Fair Grounds, but most recently fifth in Turfway’s Leonatus S. Raise Cain picks up 50 GI Kentucky Derby qualifying points for the victory. Sales history: $180,000 ylg ’21 KEESEP; $65,000 RNA 2yo ’22 OBSJUN. Lifetime Record: 6-2-1-1. O-Andrew and Rania Warren. B-Rock Ridge Thoroughbreds LLC (KY). T-Ben Colebrook.
