Databank – Your guide to the afternoon’s action

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

SEAN BOWEN’s championship charge has been derailed by injury but he is back in the winners with seven in the last fortnight. He has good chances at Kempton with WESTERN ZEPHYR (1.35), ALIEN STORM (2.10), FOUND ON (2.45), LEXIE’S MOON (3.20) and STATUARIO (3.55).

TRAINER TO FOLLOW

After his four brilliant winners at the Cheltenham Festival this week, it has to be Dan Skelton. He has plenty of ammunition including BOOMBAWN (Kempton, 2.10), one of his three entries in the race, course specialist FLEGMATIK (Kempton, 2.45), HITCHING JACKING (Kempton, 3.55), BE AWARE (Kempton 4.30) plus PUNTA DEL ESTE and GWENNIE MAY BOY (Uttoxeter, 2.25)

BIG DAY FOR…

Robbie Llewellyn, who spent time training horses to take part in films and television before making quite an impact this season with 18 winners from his 83 runners. He runs in-form TITAN DISCOVERY (Kempton, 2.10) in the £40,000 handicap hurdle.

WATCH OUT FOR…

WHITE RHINO (Uttoxeter, 2.25)

One of the fancied contenders for the Pertemps Hurdle Final at the Cheltenham Festival on Thursday, but just missed out on a place in the line-up. Goes for a potential consolation prize but still a valuable one.

HORSES FOR COURSES

HORN CAPE (Newcastle, 2.37) has a two-from-two record at the track for Ben Haslam.

PERFECT PARTNERS

GAVIN SHEEHAN has ridden nine winners from 30 rides for Katy Price to show a £1 level stake profit of £9.75. He rides the trainer’s PEACENIK (Uttoxeter, 4.45).

BEST RACE FOR FAVOURITES

Four favourites have won the 4.30 at Kempton in the last 10 years.

TOP PRIZEMONEY EARNERS

KEMPTON 3.55 CAP DU NORD – £296,288

NEWCASTLE 2.37 PAY THE PIPER – £88,172

UTTOXETER 3.00 TRUCKERS LODGE – £238,590

ROBIN GOODFELLOW – Best Bets

By Steve Ryder

LORD SNOOTIE (NB) had the form of his second at Haydock a month ago boosted at the Cheltenham Festival this week and he should hold strong claims in the 2.25 at Uttoxeter off only a 3lb higher mark.

The seven-year-old relished the heavy ground that day when only half a length behind Cuthbert Dibble who came third in the Pertemps Handicap Hurdle on Thursday off a 6lb higher mark.

Dan and Harry Skelton have had a fantastic week and FLEGMATIK (NAP) can round it off with a victory at his beloved Kempton in the 2.45. A three-time course winner, he beat Ultima Handicap Chase victor Chianti Classico here off a mark of 137 in January before finishing fourth on soft ground last time over three miles.

This drop in trip will suit under these conditions and he should prove hard to beat off a mark of 140.

THE WIZARD OF ODDS

By Chris Baker

2.45 KEMPTON

The Paul Nicholls trained OUTLAW PETER, a dual winner over hurdles at Kempton, has made a promising start to his chasing career and has gone close in his last two races. 7-2

3.00 UTTOXETER

AUTONOMOUS CLOUD (nap) beat Iron Bridge in a novice chase on this card last year. He has since won again at Uttoxeter and can be forgiven his below-par run last time. 6-1

8.00 WOLVERHAMPTON

INTERVENTION ran well in a Listed race over this course and distance last week so this represents a drop in class. He’s a consistent performer and has won five times at Wolverhampton. 8-1
