‘Rising Star’ Pretty Mischievous Springs The Upset In Rachel Alexandra

With all the attention focused pre-race on Hoosier Philly (Into Mischief), it was another daughter of the Spendthrift great who found the finish line first. PRETTY MISCHIEVOUS (Into Mischief–Pretty City Dancer, by Tapit) went out for the early pace between rivals and sat a comfortable third up the backstretch as Miracle (Mendelssohn) paced the field. Up to second in the tightly-bunched group as they made their way into the far turn, Pretty Mischievous put away Chop Chop (City of Light) to her outside and came up to duel with Miracle into the stretch. Hoosier Philly made a run into third but the top pair were well clear with Pretty Mischievous narrowly in front on the wire. The 3-year-old fillies covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:45.15. Lifetime Record: 5-4-0-1.
