Racing at Newbury was delayed after a ‘serious’ medical incident at the track.
Horses set to compete in the Bet In-Play On Racing With BetVictor Novices’ Handicap Hurdle at 2.10pm were suddenly recalled to the parade ring.
An air ambulance was called with an individual, whose condition is unknown, requiring attention from multiple members of the racecourse’s medical team.
Newbury Racecourse tweeted: ‘Following a medical incident, today’s second race has been delayed. Runners have returned to the parade ring.’
Sky Sports Racing then provided an update 10 minutes later, confirming that the incident was ongoing and that the racing remained delayed.

The second race of the day was temporarily suspended with an air ambulance called
The races could not resume until an additional ambulance arrived, with every horse race requiring two ambulances to follow the pack during the action.
Pundit Mick Fitzgerald told At The Races viewers: ‘The medical emergency is still ongoing and it’s quite a serious situation.
‘It’s involving quite a few of the medical team here. They don’t want you leave the stricken person, they want to provide adequate cover to that person in recovery.’
More than half an hour after the second race’s expected start time, the horses poised to compete remained inside the paddock.
The medical teams were swapped over at 3.20pm, allowing races to resume.
The remaining races were then bunched together to complete the meeting.
