Thousands of people packed into the Inglis Riverside Sales Complex at Warwick Farm in Sydney’s west along with potential buyers from America, Japan and Europe,  all of whom were keen to buy a piece of racing history.

After the sale, Tom Magnier from vendor Coolmore Stud said the result ‘feels like winning a Group 1’ race.

The filly will be trained by Winx’s trainer, Chris Waller.

‘It’s incredible. The initial emotion seeing Debbie’s face when the hammer came down was pretty special,’ Waller told Racenet after the auction.

‘It has been a long journey just to get here. Who would have thought when Winx was retired it would be four years down the track before her first foal would be sold.

‘Winx has had her challenges having a foal, as we all know, so to have such a beautiful filly like this is a gift. I’m honoured to be training her.’

Ms Kepitis said she only decided to buy the filly a fortnight ago.

‘[We thought] if we could get her we would,’ she told reporters.
