The favorite in this afternoon’s GI Kentucky Derby, Forte (Violence), has been scratched, according to reports from multiple sources.
After he jogged this morning, a lengthy conversation took place between state veterinarians from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission and owner Mike Repole and trainer Todd Pletcher. The colt was ruled out upon further examination.
As of last night, Forte was posted at 4-1 odds. With his defection, there are now 18 drawn in.
The story will be updated when more information is available.
