Teenage jockey Lachlan Scorse is in an induced coma at John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle following a horrific fall at Taree on Sunday.
The 19-year-old, who was just four months into his career, was airlifted to hospital from the racetrack, about 300kms north of Sydney.
Four jockeys came down in the shocking incident, three of whom were hospitalised.
Jeff Penza and Courtney Van Der Werf were the other two riders to join Scorse in hospital.
On Sunday night, Racing NSW confirmed: ‘Lachlan Scorse is in an induced coma currently undergoing scans in hospital.’

‘Courtney is waiting to have x-rays on a suspected fractured left clavicle but no other injuries,’ they said.
‘Jeff Penza has fractured ribs, an injury to his lung, and concussion. He will be admitted to ICU overnight.’
The incident occurred when Balzando, with Scorse riding, broke down in the Graff At Kitchwin Hills Class 3 Handicap (1262m).
Scorse hit the turf hard and was drifting in and out of consciousness before being transferred to hospital.
The fall caused chaos, with several other horses also coming down as a result.
Penza was thrown from Mischievous Molly while Van der Werf was launched off No Respect.
Jockey Jeff Kehoe was lucky to avoid serious injury when he was thrown from Golden Breeze.

Kehoe suffered some soft tissue bruising to his leg and shoulder, but was cleared to go home by medical staff.
Race organisers made the decision to cancel the final event of the day after the incident.
