William Haggas has admitted he was ‘not overwhelmed’ by the Queen Anne Stakes victory of superstar miler Baaeed last week.

The son of Sea The Stars extended his unbeaten sequence to eight at Royal Ascot with a workmanlike win in the opening Group One of the meeting and his trainer is now eyeing a trip to Goodwood for the Sussex Stakes.

‘That is the obvious route,’ he told the Nick Luck Daily podcast.

‘We haven’t discussed it fully, but it seems the obvious thing because he’s four years old and he’s got to get on with it.

‘He won well, as he was entitled to do. I was not overwhelmed by his performance but possibly he just does what he needs to do.’

Haggas confirmed Maljoom, a luckless fourth in the St James’s Palace Stakes, will head to France next for the Prix Jacques le Marois.
