Chindit poised for swift return to action at Sandown

Chindit is set for a quick return to the track following his victory at Haydock last Saturday, with Richard Hannon pencilling in Sandown’s Chasemore Farm Fortune Stakes for his consistent miler.

The five-year-old’s commanding two-and-a-quarter-length success over Light Infantry in the Group Three Superior Mile means he has now won at Group level in every season he has been in training and his Everleigh handler is keen to strike again while the iron is hot.

The son of Wootton Bassett could be set for a busy period and holds an entry for the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Joel Stakes on September 29, but before a trip to Newmarket enters the equation, it is Listed action in Esher on Wednesday that appears the first port of call.

Hannon said: “He’s in great form and is going to go to the Fortune Stakes at Sandown and then we’ll look at the Joel Stakes.

“He’s come out of Haydock fine and he’s been out in the pen bucking and kicking. He doesn’t need anything before Sandown.

“He was back to his best there and it is all about getting the right ground for him.”
