Favourite Teahupoo has won the Stayers’ Hurdle on the third day of the Cheltenham Festival, jockeyed by Jack Kennedy.
Teahupoo was the favourite with Paddy Power coming into the race, with odds of 5/4.
Flooring Porter came second and Home By The Lee finished third.
It has been a long wait for trainer Gordon Elliott but he finally has a Cheltenham win and Kennedy delivered under pressure. This is Elliott’s first win of 2024.
Kennedy told ITV: ‘He’s an amazing horse. He makes my job very easy.

It took some pressure off his shoulders and secured trainer Gordon Elliott his first win of the year
‘You can put him where you want in a race and he jumps great. He’s a pleasure to ride.
‘The horses have been running well but getting on my mind a bit last night. It is brilliant to get off the mark.’
Teahupoo, aged seven, came close to winning last year and displayed his improvement in a fine run.
Flooring Porter was the frontrunner for much of the race but couldn’t hold on out in front under pressure from Teahupoo, who came through the pack with strong charge.
