The final day of the Cheltenham Festival is upon us and with that, the most inocinic race of all – the Gold Cup.
Eleven horses and jockeys will battle it out for the historic prize on its 100th anniversary, with Galopin Des Champs the favourite to defend his crown at 4/5.
Lizzie Kelly backs the mount to keep hold of the crown, claiming she ‘sees no reason to part from him’ and that she is a ‘massive fan’.
Marcus Townend has also thrown his weight behind the favourite, but thinks LHomme Presse at 11/1 could be good for an each way bet.
Paul Townend, the victorious jockey from last year, is once again steering Galopin Des Champs.

Paul Townend led Galopin Des Champs to victory last year and is hoping for the same result
However, with soft ground expected, all horses will have their work cut out to make the grade – with Townend warning about ‘taxing’ conditions.
Elsewhere, in the JCB Triumph Hurdle, Kelly backs fourth-favourite Kargese to win at 11/2.
She claims there is ‘lots to like’ about Kargese, who has been trained by Willie Mullins, and that she ‘has got plenty of gears’.
