Bradsell ready for Highfield Princess rematch at York

Archie Watson has confirmed his star sprinter Bradsell to be firmly on course for a rematch with Highfield Princess in the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York later this month.

Bradsell saw off John Quinn’s superstar mare by a length when breaking his Group One duck in the King’s Stand at Royal Ascot last month under Hollie Doyle.

Highfield Princess bounced back to winning ways in spectacular style at Goodwood last week and while Watson respects the fact she will be a formidable opponent when defending her Nunthorpe crown on August 25, he is looking forward to taking her on again.

“Bradsell is in great order at home. It was great to win at Ascot as it means it’s very easy to race plan from now on,” the trainer told Sky Sports Racing.

“The plan has always been the Nunthorpe. Obviously Mr Quinn’s horse was very impressive at Goodwood and we’re looking forward to meeting her again at York.

“He’s definitely really strengthened and filled out this year – he’s a proper set sprinter.

“He hasn’t really grown much from two to three, but he’s thriving in his work and he’s galloping better now than he was before Ascot. He’s really settling into a nice rhythm at home.”
