An Australian jockey has apologised after he made an outrageous comment in a post-race interview on Monday.
Dean Yendall, 49, spoke to Racing.com after winning the first race at Swan Hill aboard Persian Spirit when he made an ‘inappropriate and offensive joke’ when discussing the windy conditions at the racecourse.
He remarked that the blustery conditions would ‘blow the t**s off a prostitute’ during a live chat with the sports channel.
Stewards deemed the comments ‘prejudicial to the image of racing’ and Yendall, who has won over £35million (AU$67m) in career earnings over his lengthy career, took to Instagram to apologise.
He said: ‘I wish to express my sincere apologies for the inappropriate and offensive joke that was made during Racing.com post-race interview at Swan Hill races.

‘I would like to acknowledge that my words were hurtful and offensive to many, and I deeply regret the impact they had.
‘I take full responsibility for my actions and understand that my comments were not only inappropriate but also completely unacceptable.
‘I want to assure you that this does not reflect my true values or beliefs. I am committed to rectifying this situation and making amends.
‘I understand that an apology alone is not enough, and actions speak louder than words.’
He also apologised to his fellow jockeys, sponsors and his management team, promising to ‘educate’ himself so that he can be ‘better informed and aware of the impact of inappropriate remarks’.
