Ascot going likely to change following overnight rain

Ascot clerk of the course Chris Stickels will reassess track conditions at lunchtime following significant overnight rain.

The Queen Anne Stakes kicks off this year’s Royal meeting at 2.30pm and while the official going is still on the quicker side, Stickels reports 10 millimetres of rain to have fallen at the track.

Via the Ascot Twitter feed, he said: “The going will be reassessed at about midday after 10mm of rain.

“The current going description is good to firm in the straight and good, good to firm in places on the round course but this will be updated once that rain has soaked through and we’ve had chance to reassess the track.”
