- Knight’s Chance has returned back to his stable
- The horse clinched a shock win in the Melbourne Cup
Champion trainer Sheila Laxon watched as Robbie Dolan and Knights Chance claimed victory by the barest of margins on Tuesday afternoon.
Dolan – who had previously appeared on The Voice, was subsequently seen celebrating the victory on stage singing alongside Ronan Keating, as the celebrations rumbled into the night.
But Laxon celebrated perhaps a little differently to how other trainers might do, having not had a sip of alcohol.
Laxon had, according to Sunrise reporter Andrew McCormack, decided to give up on booze last week.
Knight’s Chance’s victory had ended a long wait for Laxon, who had in 2001 become the first woman to officially win the Cup with Ethereal.

Laxon revealed to Channel Seven on Wednesday that the ‘full-on’ celebrations had included co-trainer John Symons and her husband repeatedly telling her what they had achieved and said she was feeling better than many others this morning.
‘I stuck with water,’ she told Sunrise.
‘I feel much better this morning than a lot of the others!’
She revealed to the reporter that a whopping 407 messages on her phone, which also ‘hasn’t stopped ringing’, kept her busy following the win.
On Wednesday, Knight’s Chance returned back to his stable at Macedon Lodge and was pictured stepping out into a luscious green paddock.
‘A lot can’t believe [we won],’ she said.
‘[John] keeps coming around, “We won the Melbourne Cup, we won the Melbourne up!” as if he has to reiterate that it actually happened.
‘It’s been an amazing experience.’

Dolan opened up on Tuesday night’s celebrations to Sunrise, stating: ‘Let’s just say we had more than one last night.’
Dolan stepped on stage for a cameo performance at the Crown Oaks Club and shared a tune with Keating as the pair performed Van Morrison’s Brown Eyed Girl.
‘It’s funny, I thought I’d reached a level but it just keeps going and going,’ Dolan said during the evening.
‘I don’t know what’s going on, to be honest.’
