Trueshan heads six contenders for Saturday’s Qatar Prix du Cadran at ParisLongchamp following Tuesday’s forfeit stage.
Alan King’s star stayer memorably got the better of Stradivarius in an epic renewal of the feature event on day one of the Arc meeting in 2021 and is being readied for a return to France this weekend having bounced back to winning ways in the Doncaster Cup earlier this month.
Trueshan’s biggest threat appears to be the Aidan O’Brien-trained Emily Dickinson, who finished fourth in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in June and has since won the Curragh Cup and finished second in the Goodwood Cup.
A strong British and Irish contingent also includes Run For Oscar, winner of last year’s Cesarewitch for Charles Byrnes, and Richard Hughes’ Northumberland Plate hero Calling The Wind.
Moon Wolf and Czech raider Vert Liberte are the other contenders, with a supplementary stage for the race on Wednesday morning.
The other Group One on Saturday’s card is the Prix de Royallieu, in which Paul and Oliver Cole’s Sumo Sam could bid to continue her excellent run of form.
Having dominated her rivals in the Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood and displayed a willing attitude to follow up in Doncaster’s Park Hill, the grey is fully entitled to step up to the highest level.
Karl Burke’s Poptronic is also among 16 possibles, as are Emily Dickinson, John and Thady Gosden’s Mimikyu, Dermot Weld’s Shamida, Joseph O’Brien’s Thunder Roll and the William Haggas-trained Sea Silk Road.
Weld’s Listed winner Harbour Wind is the only possible British or Irish runner in the Prix Chaudenay, while the likes of Angel Bleu (Ralph Beckett), Witch Hunter (Richard Hannon), Poker Face (Simon and Ed Crisford) and Isaac Shelby could cross the Channel to contest the Prix Daniel Wildenstein.
The Prix Dollar is always a strong affair and this year’s renewal looks no exception, with Al Aasy (Haggas) and Deauville Group Two winner Jack Darcy (Coles) both in the mix, as is Sir Michael Stoute’s Bay Bridge, although he is widely expected to line up in the Arc itself the following afternoon.
