Robin Goodfellow’s racing tips: Best bets for Tuesday, June 9

Sportsmail’s racing expert Robin Goodfellow dishes out his tips for Tuesday’s meetings at Haydock, Wolverhampton and Chelmsford City. 

Last season was very much a breakthrough campaign for Newmarket handler Tom Clover and CELCIUS (Haydock, nap, 2.45) could continue to advertise his talents this summer.

Formerly assistant to David Simcock, Clover enjoyed considerable success last summer with today’s selection which scored at Glorious Goodwood, bargain-buy Gypsy Spirit, a filly which consistently punched above her weight in Stakes races, and valuable Newmarket nursery winner Hunni.

In Celcius, the Kremlin House trainer boasts an unexposed four-year-old sprinter that appears capable of leaving a mark in the mid 80s behind him in the ensuing months.

Unbeaten in two starts at the north west venue, the Dragon Pulse gelding bids for the hat-trick this afternoon and should find some cut in the ground suits his bid to retain his impressive track record.

INTISAAB (Haydock, nb, 3.15) is mightily difficult to win with, but he does at least have a recent run under his belt so may enjoy a fitness edge here.

Two outings at Haydock have yielded form figures of 13, while James Doyle has been placed on two of his three starts aboard the veteran.

The selection is certainly no good thing, but he has slipped to a mark which gives him a leading chance in this grade and his record when racing in the handicap band between 80-89 reads three wins from 10 starts, while his last four outings off a mark similar to today’s have yielded figures 1212 which suggests this may prove an ideal opportunity.
