Jump jockey Josh Moore was in the critical care unit of Aintree University Hospital on Wednesday night after suffering complications from a chest infection.
The 30-year-old suffered a heavy fall at Haydock on Saturday when riding Gleno, who is trained by his father Gary.
It left him needing an operation for a fractured femur and he sustained other injuries including fractured ribs and a punctured lung.

A statement from the Injured Jockeys Fund read: ‘After successful surgery to his femur, his recovery has been made complicated by a serious chest infection which has required him to stay sedated on the ventilator and has delayed definitive treatment of his injuries.
‘The specialist medical team are working hard to treat Josh and his family remain by his bedside.’
Moore only returned to action in February after another bad fall at Plumpton in October when he was knocked unconscious and subsequently had screws and rods inserted into his back after T4 and T5 vertebra fractures.
Meanwhile, Brian Hughes became only the fourth jump jockey to ride 200 winners in a season when successful on Dreams Of Home at Perth. Hughes, 36, joins an exclusive double centurion club which also includes Richard Johnson, Sir Anthony McCoy and Peter Scudamore. He will be crowned champion jockey for the second time at Sandown on Saturday.
