DRAMATIC STAR (NAP) can easily be forgiven his defeat at Haydock when slipping on the bend and can gain compensation in the Melrose Handicap at York (2.25pm).
The unexposed William Haggas colt won comfortably at Hamilton on his penultimate start and can be forgiven for finishing last after slipping on his handicap debut last time off a mark of 87. This trip of 1m6f looks sure to suit and he should get back to winning ways off the same mark.
The going looks a crucial factor at Goodwood in the Celebration Mile (2.40pm) where POKER FACE (NB) should relish the expected softer ground. After winning a Group Three on soft ground last year and a Group Two on good to soft, he can bounce back from a below-par effort last time at Royal Ascot on a firmer surface and justify his rating of 116.
