Robin Goodfellow’s Best Bets
The drying ground will suit DARK THIRTY (NAP) in the Bunbury Cup (Newmarket, 4.00) and he can enhance his solid record at the venue. With form figures of 312133 across both Newmarket tracks, he looks overpriced as a result of poor performances at Epsom and Ascot on his previous two starts.
The form of his third place behind Noble Dynasty and English Oak over this trip in May has been boosted since, with those rivals now rated 10lb and 18lb higher. Off the same mark, the Richard Hannon-trained colt still looks well-handicapped.
Earlier, in the Summer Mile Stakes (Ascot, 2.20), QUDDWAH (NB) puts his unbeaten record on the line in this Group Two contest. The form of his success here in May has been boosted, with both Docklands (second) and Maljoom (third) placing in the Group One Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

York 2.35pm: STARLUST was an impressive winner over this course and distance in May. He will enjoy the return to five furlongs and drop in class after finding the Commonwealth Cup too hot.
York 3.10pm: BOTANICAL (nap) ended last season with an easy win at Hamilton and followed up over today’s course and distance on his seasonal reappearance. He can bounce back from a defeat at Royal Ascot.
York 3.45pm: The well-bred KLONDIKE is another horse with good form at York, having recently won a Listed race over today’s distance. He has had just six starts and is open to more improvement.
