The December Gold Cup (1.50 Cheltenham) is the highlight of the day and it looks a great opportunity for FUGITIF (NAP) to repeat his success from last year.
Victorious by a short head off a mark of 151, having finished fourth in the Paddy Power Gold Cup on his previous start, the Richard Hobson-trained nineyear-old runs here off a 1lb lower mark after finishing fifth in the same race on his reappearance.
In the following 2m½f Handicap Chase (2.25), I expect THIRD TIME LUCKI (NB) to improve after catching the eye when he finished behind Matata at the November meeting, his first run for 584 days.
A two-time Grade Two winner as a novice chaser, he is now 1lb lower than when a comfortable one-length winner back in February 2023 at Sandown. He has good form at the course and should outrun his odds

1.50 CHELTENHAM: STAGE STAR can defy top weight and secure another victory in this prestigious race for trainer Paul Nicholls. He is a three-time winner at Cheltenham, including a Grade One.
3.15 DONCASTER: NORMAN FLETCHER justified favouritism to win comfortably at Huntingdon 32 days ago. That built on a close second in a competitive race at Cheltenham on his seasonal reappearance. He can win again.
3.35 CHELTENHAM: PRETENDING (NAP) ended last season with a victory over today’s course and distance. She returned to action with a win at Uttoxeter in October and ran creditably at Wincanton last month.
