- Harrington has had outstanding career and was synonymous with Moscow Flyer
- Hotazhell was sent off 11-1 in Doncaster and saw off 15-8 favourite Delacroix
Jessica Harrington got the Group One success that her fantastic season has deserved when Hotazhell landed Britain’s final top-level race of the season.
Harrington has had an outstanding career and was synonymous with the brilliant chaser Moscow Flyer but she has been equally formidable since focusing on the Flat.
Hotazhell was sent off 11-1 for Doncaster’s Futurity Stakes and fought with tremendous resolution to see off 15-8 favourite Delacroix. The Futurity is always a guide to next summer’s Classics, with many great horses winning this then following up at Newmarket or Epsom.
Hotazhell joins stablemate Green Impact in providing 77-year-old Harrington with a dream to hang on to through winter, and winning jockey Shane Foley could not hide his admiration for the trainer, who was winning a first Group One since 2022.
Foley said: ‘What a trainer that woman is. She is a legend to work for and a legend to ride for.’ On Hotazhell, he said: ‘He is a very good, tough horse.’
Jessica Harrington’s Hotazhell won the final British Group One prize of the season to top off a fantastic season
