MARCO BOTTI would like to take Euro Charline to the Breeders’ Cup later this year, but before another possible American trip, the trainer is eyeing options closer to home.
Although unable to defend her title in the Beverley D Stakes at Arlington earlier this month when finishing fourth, Botti felt there were mitigating circumstances for the four-year-old’s run.
“The Beverley D didn’t really pan out as we wanted the rain came just an hour before the race, which made the conditions softer than we wanted as she acts so well on fast ground,” Botti said on his website.
“She broke out so well she ended up making the running, which was never the plan.
“It was a long journey and a tough race but she travelled back well and seems in good order.”
Well travelled with runs in America and Dubai, Euro Charline is yet to appear in Ireland, but that could change, with the Coolmore Fastnet Rock Stakes at Leopardstown next month. Botti added:
“Where we go next is a little bit up in the air but she could go for the Matron Stakes or the Sun Chariot [at Newmarket].
“Ideally, I would like her to take her chance in the Breeders’ Cup. We will take it step by step and see how she goes.”
