Zukunftsrennen Win For Reliable Man’s Narella

By Tom Frary

Becoming the first black-type winner for her first-season sire, Narella built on the promise of her debut win over seven furlongs at Cologne July 9 to maintain her perfect tally with authority here. Settled towards the rear early, the grey was delivered wide in the straight by Adrie de Vries and after taking over approaching the furlong pole drew away in style from the previously unbeaten Auenperle, with the market leader Julio well adrift. Narella is a daughter of the listed winner Naomia, who is also the second dam of last year’s G2 Oaks d’Italia heroine Nepal (Ger) (Kallisto {Ger}). The dam, who has a yearling filly by Lope de Vega (Ire) named Navega (Ger) and a 2017 full-sister to Narella named Nadira (Ger), was the leading performer for another Oaks d’Italia winner in Nagoya, who is herself the best daughter of the G2 Hessen-Pokal scorer Nuas (Ger) (Aspros {Ger}). This is also the dynasty of the Listed Premio Archidamia winner North America (Ger) (Pivotal {GB}), who produced the dual listed winner and G3 Premio Verziele third Not For Sale (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}).
