Wild Conclusion

Sunday’s G3 Preis des Winterfavoriten at Cologne is designed to sort the pecking order for the 2018 domestic Classic hopefuls and the now-familiar Australian Bloodstock Stable colours are exhibited by the exciting prospect Wild Max (Ger) (Maxios {GB}). Off the mark by seven lengths on debut over seven furlongs at Dortmund on Sept. 17, the Andreas Wohler-trained €220,000 Baden-Baden purchase is a relative of the GI Man o’ War S. hero Wake Forest (Ger) (Sir Percy {GB}), the G1 Deutsches Derby victor Waldpark (Ger) (Dubawi {Ire}), G1 St Leger winner Masked Marvel (GB) (Montjeu {Ire}) and G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud scorer and G1 Prix du Jockey Club runner-up Waldgeist (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), and could be anything at this stage. Another unexposed colt by a first-season sire is Gestut Rottgen’s Erasmus (Ger) (Reliable Man {GB}), who earned this tilt with a 4 3/4-length success over this course and distance on Sept. 24.
