TODAY’S fixture at Wetherby has been given the all-clear following a 7.30am inspection.
The ground has been described as soft, heavy in places and although standing water remains on parts of the track, officials will alter the racing line and omit some obstacles.
Speaking after the inspection, clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson said: “We had 0.5mm of rain yesterday afternoon and have been dry since 6-7pm but there’s not been a total improvement and we still have patches of water on the track.
“We’re going to move the racing line on the course to avoid them and bypass some obstacles.”
The course later confirmed three fences (number three, eight and nine) and one hurdle (six) will be omitted, while race times have been put back five minutes (2.05 becoming 2.10 etc) due to the abandonment of Stratford.
A dry and sunny day is forecast and the family raceday has the added attraction of the Mascot Gold Cup.
As of 10.15am, there had been a total of 20 non-runners reported, all due to the ground.
