TESTING conditions await the runners for the final day of Cheltenham’s Open meeting, with parts of the track now described as heavy.
Clerk of the course Simon Claisse had said following racing on Saturday he thought conditions may be slower on Sunday, and the going is now soft, heavy in places (from soft).
Claisse said: “I’ve had a good look round this morning and there’s some really soft ground midway down the back straight and coming down the hill.
“We’ve made some adjustments on railings, pushing them further out than before. We had 1mm overnight and expect a dry but cloudy day.”
Four races from Cheltenham will be broadcast live on Channel 4, the 1.35, 2.10, 2.40 and 3.15, along with the totepool Southern National at Fontwell and Grade 1 StanJames.com Morgiana Hurdle from Punchestown.
