LASTING LEGACY (c, 3, Tapizar–Sweet Tune, by Woodman) overcame a wide trip to graduate by a good-looking 5 1/4 lengths on debut at Monmouth Park July 21 and made good on that early promise with a “TDN Rising Star”-worthy performance here. Favored at 8-5 in this first try against winners, the $200,000 KEESEP buy blew the break and ran three wide near the back of the field through an opening quarter in :23.39. Advancing up the outside to be even with the leaders through a half in :46.34, the chestnut was five wide turning for home, displayed some greenness in the stretch, but punched clear once he switched leads to win impressively. The final time was 1:22.06. Lifetime Record: 2-2-0-0.
