IMPRESSIVE Coronation Stakes victor Qemah is “more likely” to contest the Group 1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket on Friday, July 8 despite being among the entries for the Nassau Stakes on Wednesday.

Harry Herbert, racing manager to Al Shaqab Racing, confirmed the three-year-old filly is likely to stay over a mile and run in the Newmarket feature.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer is a general 6-1 shot to secure a second Group 1 success of the season and is second favourite to Usherette, who is 5-6 with Sky Bet to land the Falmouth.

Herbert said: “Qemah has come out of Royal Ascot very well.

“I suspect Jean-Claude [Rouget, trainer] will keep her to a mile but she is in the Qatar Nassau Stakes so we have options. A race like the Falmouth might be more likely if it does not come too soon.”

Jemayel a likely runner in Nassau

Despite Qemah’s Goodwood bid appearing unlikely, Al Shaqab Racing are set to be represented by Jemayel in the £600,000 race.

The winner of the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary at Deauville last month suffered little luck in running in the Prix de Diane (French Oaks) earlier this month.

Herbert said: “Jemayel would have been closer in the Prix de Diane as it was a rough race. The start did not go to plan really and then she was quite badly squeezed just as she was making a nice move. It was a satisfactory run under the circumstances.

“She may just be off the very top level but she is a Group 1 winner and there are not too many options for her. I would guess that she is quite a likely runner at Goodwood.”
