PLEASELETMEWIN, winner of last Saturday’s Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury, will not be joining Europe’s Breeders’ Cup team at Santa Anita next week after he was sold at Tattersalls on Wednesday.
The colt was a 16-1 chance for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf after being given an entry in the $1 million race by trainer Ralph Beckett following his two and a quarter length success in the Newbury Group 3 race.
But he is set to continue his career in Qatar after selling for 450,000gns at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-training Sale to Gassim Mohammad Ghazali.
Beckett said: “He won’t be going to the Breeders’ Cup. He was sold last night and is going to Qatar. He was bought to race there this winter.”
The defection further depletes British participation at next week’s Santa Anita extravaganza, leaving just the Simon Crisford-trained Rodaini as the sole British participant in the Juvenile Turf race.
Intelligence Cross leads the market at 9-2 for trainer Aidan O’Brien, who also saddles Dewhurst runner-up Lancaster Bomber, available at a current 6-1 chance.
