National Stakes Off Agenda For Expert Eye

By Daithi Harvey

The Sir Michael Stoute trained Expert Eye (GB) (Acclamation {GB}) has been ruled out of a trip to Ireland for this weekend’s G1 Goffs Vincent O’Brien National S. at The Curragh. The Juddmonte Farms homebred has had just a minor setback and should make it back well in time for his next intended target, the G1 Dubai Dewhurst S. at Newmarket next month. Giving an update on the Expert Eye’s well-being, Lord Grimthorpe, racing manager to Prince Khalid Abdullah said, “Unfortunately he returned a slightly dirty scope, so that has ruled him out of Ireland. I would think it would make sense now to head straight for the Dewhurst, that seems likely.” Having made a winning debut at Newbury in June, Expert Eye could not have been any more impressive in the G2 Qatar Vintage S. at Goodwood last month when he slammed Zaman (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) by four lengths, a performance that propelled him to the head of the betting for next year’s G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas.
