ON THE day Sole Power gave Eddie Lynam his fourth top-level sprint of the season the trainer revealed his hopes of winning all five open-age Group 1 British sprints had been dealt a blow, with Slade Power’s Betfred Sprint Cup participation in doubt.
The Diamond Jubilee and July Cup winner has been afflicted by the same problem that nearly ruled King’s Stand winner Sole Power out of the Nunthorpe and Paddy Power, son of owners David and Sabina, said: “Slade Power might miss the Sprint Cup.”
The Haydock Group 1 is on September 6 and Slade Power faces a race against time, according to Power. He added: “He has suffered from the same skin infection as Sole Power and it might take him a bit more time to recover as he’s still not able to sweat. It’s still the plan to go to Haydock before Australia but we’ll have to see.”
Earlier Lynam told Channel 4 Racing that Slade Power’s participation at Haydock was “unlikely”.
