THERE are still 29 colts engaged in Sunday’s Abu Dhabi Poule d’Essai des Poulains after Tuesday’s first forfeit stage with Highland Reel one of five possible runners for Aidan O’Brien, while Godolphin could be represented by Belardo and Maftool.

Richard Hannon has left in Smaih, whose owners Al Shaqab are expected to double their interest with the supplementation of Karar who finished second to Qipco 2,000 Guineas runner-up Territories in the Prix de Fontainebleau.

“The idea is that he will run on Sunday as long as everything goes well this week,” said trainer Francis Graffard.

Andre Fabre also has two potential runners in recent New Bay and Make Believe, who was last seen when losing out narrowly to Ride Like The Wind in the Prix Djebel.

With a safety limit of 20 at Longchamp and the prospect of at least one supplementary entry on Thursday, there remains a risk of eliminations.

21 fillies remain in line for the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches on the same Longchamp card, with key trial winners Mexican Gold and Ervedya among them.

Nell Gwyn second and fourth New Providence and Astrelle also appear on the the list, as does last season’s Cornwallis Stakes winner Royal Razalma.
