Heavy rain changes Ascot going for Shergar Cup

THERE has been a significant going change at Ascot for today’s annual Shergar Cup fixture after 12mm of rain overnight turned the ground to good, good to soft in places (from good to firm).

The Berkshire course has not been the only British track affected by the widespread deluge as Newmarket, who hosts its Sweet Solera meeting, is soft after 64mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

Redcar has had 18mm, which has changed the ground for the afternoon meeting to good to soft, good in places (from good to firm), while the turf track for Lingfield’s mixed evening card is good (from good to firm) following 13.6mm of rain.
