CONNECTIONS of Havana Cooler will face an anxious wait this week to see if the leading Betfred Ebor fancy will make the cut for Saturday’s race.
Trained by three-time Ebor winner Luca Cumani, the four-year-old finished second in a valuable handicap at Glorious Goodwood last time, and is second favourite in ante-post lists at 10-1.
However with a maximum field of 20 allowed, Havana Cooler needs runners to drop out to be guaranteed a run.
The Dermot Weld-trained Pale Mimosa heads the weights off 9st 10lb, with hot favourite Pallasator next at 9st 8lb. There are 58 runners still entered for the 1m6f race.
Also on Saturday’s card at York is the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes. The 6f dash for juvenile colts and geldings has 15 runners left in at Monday’s five-day stage.
Kool Kompany and the unbeaten Limato are the highest-rated runners, while Aidan O’Brien has left The Great War and War Envoy in as possible runners.
