Deauville Prix Minerve (Group 3) 1m4 1/2f 3yo fillies

ZARSHANA came from off the pace to win the Prix Minerve under a confident ride from Christophe Soumillon as the John Gosden-trained Criteria fared best of the British performers in fourth.

The Alain de Royer-Dupre trained filly was dropped in by Soumillon and travelled out the back for much of the contest and did not appear to have the smoothest trip throughout the race.

Honor Bound made the running and led for most of the contest and was joined by the field in the home straight and the race looked to be anyone’s.

But the favourite responded well to Soumillon’s pressure and quickened away to win by half a length from Game Zone in second and Mambomiss in third.

Winning trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre said after race: “It’s not decided whether she will stay in training but she has made a lot of progress already and I think she will be even better next year.”
