SATURDAY’S meeting at Uttoxeter was orginally given the green light as the course passed a 7.30am inspection, but a snow storm forced officials to call a second inspection at 10am, a third at 11am and now they will look again at midday.

“Conditions are improving,” said clerk of the course Charlie Moore. “There’s still fleece to move and some snow on the track but we remain hopeful.

“We are having another inspection at midday as we need to get all the covers off the course. The track is raceable but it is snowing and sleeting.

“We have the option of delaying the first race and running on until 5pm.”

The seven-race card, which is due to start at 1.10pm, would take place on ground officially described as heavy.
