He was 2-5 favourite here, but the manner of his victory suggested that last year’s odds of 1-7 were more appropriate as Order Of St George tore apart the opposition to repeat his 2015 powerhouse performance in this. Second last year in a shock, the 2016 G1 Gold Cup here and Arc third missed the break but soon held a mid-division pitch under Ryan Moore who opted to send him to the front with over three furlongs remaining. Ending up on the far rail as he galloped relentlessly through the testing ground that suits so well, he hit the line with nine lengths to spare over Torcedor (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}), with the 3-year-old Mount Moriah (GB) (Mount Nelson {GB}) 4 1/2 lengths away in third.
