Darley Classic Next For Redzel

By Daithi Harvey

Having conquered the richest turf race in the world on Saturday Redzel (Aus) (Snitzel {Aus}) will step back to Group 1 company for his next start in the G1 Darley Classic. The Peter and Paul Snowden trained 5-year-old brought his earnings to over A$7-million after his win in The Everest at Randwick and he will bid to double his Group 1 tally in the Darley Classic at Flemington Nov. 11. “We will head to the Darley Classic which gives him the four weeks. He races well with four weeks between runs so that’s what we will do,” Peter Snowden told Racing And Sports on Sunday. Redzel who is now unbeaten on his last five starts will likely lock horns again with Saturday’s fourth placed Chautauqua (Aus) (Encosta De Lago {Aus}) in the A$1-million 1200m Darley Classic. Chautauqua’s jockey Brenton Avdulla took to Twitter on Sunday to defend his ride aboard the grey as he came from his usual customary position from off the pace to finish a close fourth. Avdulla contributed the firm surface as the primary reason for Chautauqua not finishing closer than many thought he should have.
