Challenge For Thunder Snow

Dual Group 1 winner Thunder Snow (Ire) (Helmet {Aus}) could line up in Newmarket’s seven furlong G2 Challenge S. on Oct. 13 as his last run of the season, and the bay colt also has an option in the G1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup on British Champions Day at Ascot eight days later, trainer Saeed bin Suroor told At The Races. Both of Thunder Snow’s Group 1 wins have come in France-last year’s Criterium International and the Prix Jean Prat on July 9-and bin Suroor suggested the Godolphin colourbearer will stay in training next year.

“The horse is doing well but I think more next year he is going to be a better horse physically,” Bin Suroor told At The Races. “The target we have for him is the Challenge S. in October or we could take him to the QEII. That’s another option for him. He had an easy time after his last run [third in the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois on Aug. 13]. We will have one race, then give him a break before we take him back to Dubai.”
