JONATHAN BURKE suffered suspected fractured vertebrae while schooling on his father’s gallops on Tuesday.
Burke, who finished fifth on Goonyella in the Grand National on Saturday, was schooling horses at his father Liam’s base in Curraglass and was on Tuesday night awaiting results of a CT scan.
“I’ve spoken to Johnny twice today and he was comfortable,” said Turf Club medical officer Adrian McGoldrick.
“I suspect he has fractured vertebrae but we won’t know until the results of the CT scan come back. He was in good spirits.”
Burke, first jockey for Alan and Ann Potts, missed six weeks with a fracture to his vertebrae following a fall at Thurles in January.
