A NUMBER of big names look set to contest Saturday’s Listed Coral App Download From The App Store Churchill Stakes at Lingfield including the Group 3 Prix Messidor winner Graphic and last year’s Cambridgeshire hero Educate.

Another notable name set take his chance in the 1m2f contest, a fast-track qualifier for the £200,000 Coral Easter Classic on All-Weather Championships Finals Day, Good Friday, is trainer James Given’s exciting new recruit Snowmane.

The three-year-old son of Galileo was purchased for 210,000 gns on behalf of the Cool Silk Partnership at the Tattersalls Autumn Horses In Training Sale having been with Ger Lyons in Ireland where he won two of his eight starts storming to a five-length victory last time out at Dundalk.

Given said: “Snowmane is an intended runner at Lingfield on Saturday. He has settled in fine and is obviously a gelding so he comes without some of the issues a colt would have.

“He has had one gallop at home for us which went nicely and we are happy with him. It is always nice to get one by Galileo as he is the world’s best sire and they are nice horses.

“I think we will look at a domestic programme with him. He has been bought with the Winter Derby Trial and Winter Derby in mind and then next summer, who knows. One would hope he has the ability to be running in good races maybe abroad but also in this country.”

The John Gosden-trained Maverick Wave, runner up in the Balmoral Handicap, is another big name likely to challenge for the £45,000 on offer.

Some high-class sprinters could also be on show in the £40,000 Listed Unibet Golden Rose Stakes, a fast-track qualifier for the £150,000 Unibet Sprint over the same distance on All-Weather Championships Finals Day.

Among the 17 entries are the Jeremy Gask-trained Medicean Man, who was fourth to Sole Power in the 2012 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot as well as Group 1 winner Krypton Factor.
