ANNIE POWER will not run in Friday’s BETDAQ Punchestown Champion Hurdle, and will miss the meeting, it was revealed on Wednesday.
Trainer Willie Mullins was not completely happy with the mare, and having already seen Yorkhill and Vautour turned over at the meeting, decided not to risk the eight-year-old, who last ran on April 7.
Annie Power was 1-4 with Ladbrokes in their ante-post market on Wednesday morning before declarations.
Speaking on Wednesday, Mullins said: “We just weren’t 100 per cent happy with her over the last couple of days and decided not to declare her.
“The way Vautour and Yorkhill, who like her were at Aintree, performed on Tuesday was a factor in our decision, so we thought it best not to run her. She’s done enough for the season, winning the Champion Hurdle and the Aintree Hurdle.”
Six runners now remain, with Fethard Player, Identity Thief, My Tent Or Yours, Sempre Medici and Ted Veale joining Vroum Vroum Mag.
Annie Power had won the Mares Champion Hurdle, at the last two Punchestown festivals, and was entered again.
Her absence is another blow for the festival, with fellow Cheltenham scorers Don Cossack and Thistlecrack also missing the meeting.
